Winter triticale – is artificial hybrid of rye and wheat created by breeders. There are winter forms (2-year old) are mainly spread in Ukraine. Triticale plants strongly tillers, have high frost resistance (more than wheat), resistant to fungal and viral diseases, have high protein content in grain and less demanding for soil fertility because of their root system is very physiologically active. It is grown as food and grain-feed crop.
This crop has especially positive reaction for introduction of microelements on soils with its low content. Boron fertilizers for triticale are brought in on sod-podzolic, sod-gley, peat and gray forest soils. On these soils, with light texture (loamy and sandy), cooper fertilizers should be applied. Zinc fertilizer is used on sod-carbonate soils, black earth, sod-podzolic soils with high content of phosphorus and limed well. The use of micronutrients increases crop harvest, improves grain quality, increases plant resistance to adverse conditions (drought, low temperature, defeat by diseases and so on.).
