Water-melon and pumpkin
Gourds – are pumpkin, watermelon, squash and other crops, which belong to the family Cucurbitaceae. Watermelons are grown mainly in southern and south-eastern Ukraine (Kherson, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipro, Donetsk region and the Crimea), and squash - on the whole territory of Ukraine. The fruits of melons is valuable food and dietary product that is used in the food in fresh (watermelon), baked, fried (pumpkin) and pickled (watermelon) form; as raw material for the production of honey, candied fruits, purees; livestock feed; oil as raw material (seeds). Pumpkin contains a lot of A and E vitamins, some elements (K, Ca, P, Mg, Fe, Cu, Zn). Watermelon contains useful sugars (mainly fructose) elements (magnesium, potassium, etc.), pectin, carotene, vitamins B1, B2, vitamin C, seeds are rich of zinc.
